We currently require an Oracle DBA to work for one of our largest Clients. We are looking for a highly motivated individual with the commitment to support the delivery of Retail key success factors via the effective use of IT infrastructure. The role would be suitable to an individual with strong development skills willing to train as a DBA OR an individual that already has DBA skills.It is important to be flexible, as you will be required to man the help desk coverage on a rota basis between the hours of 07:00 and 19:00, Monday to Friday. Also, roughly once every two months you will be expected to be on call that involves out of hours works.Key features of the role include:· Database design, including review of Developer generated database changes and infrastructure. Involvement in development projects. · Environment Provision EP support, which entails the building of pre production environments, sub setting data, backup and recovery, maintenance· Production support, including database and SQL tuning; planned maintenance.Key Skill Requirements:· Proven SQL knowledge and PL, SQL experience.· Working knowledge of UNIX, HP UX, Solaris, AIX. MS Windows (knowledge required, experience desirable but not essential)· POSIX shell programming skills.· Experience of structured methodologies· Strong Oracle RDBMS technical knowledge. · Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) desirable but not essential.· Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills and are able to build effective working relationships with their team and within the wider business.· Commercially aware and understand the environment in which they operate, able to translate technology to business advantage. - Possess Oracle development: support technical knowledge.
